Description:

Responsible to the CNO and Clinical Operations and/or the CEO for facilitating, coordinating, and delegating the delivery of patient care to a defined group of patients. Will be responsible 24 hours a day for the staffing and management of patient care in their units, for promoting the practice of professional nursing in a specified patient care area, and for the acquisition, development, and utilization of resources (human and material) needed to fulfill those responsibilities.

  • Builds and maintains a high functioning team. Provides leadership and direction for staffing their unit(s) in accordance with the organizational goals and objectives. Identifies modifications in staffing based on patient acuity and census.
  • Plans, organizes, facilitates, and directs patient care delivered on the unit on a 24-hour basis.
  • In addition, the Nurse Manager is responsible for several administrative responsibilities, including performance improvement, staff development, policy and procedure initiation and updating, and strict adherence to regulatory requirements related to accreditation. The Nurse Manager will provide skills training for all new nursing staff to assure competency and maintain a high standard of care, work with all divisions to provide additional training as needed, provide nursing coverage in emergency situations to maintain patient safety and assure all nursing staff is working within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act.
  • Oversees nursing care services to women during pregnancy, delivery, and the postpartum period in accordance with the policies of FRH and directives of the medical staff to include mothers in the process of labor and delivery; high-risk patients closely to ascertain any conditions that may require the care of the Physician; comfort of the mother in labor, and mother in the delivery room in having a safe delivery; offers emotional support and comfort for the patient during childbirth; oversee the mother after the birth of the baby in the healing process, and  assesses the mother’s physical and emotional condition and lends whatever assistance the mother needs in adapting to her new baby and its needs.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • 1+ years applicable experience preferred
  • Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • Current license to practice professional registered nursing in the state of Texas
  • Current BLS, PALS, ACLS and NRP certifications
